Plainfield Broadband has partnered with Whip City Fiber to provide Internet and telephone service over Plainfield's fiber-optic network.
Construction of the network began July 2019 and was completed January 2021. Our network design included all premises that existed as of April 2018 and provided spare fibers to connect any newly built premises. New subscribers are welcomed at any time.
Plainfield broadband will cover the costs to bring the fiber optic cables from the street to the inside of your home (using the least expensive pathway and up to $1,000), provided that you sign up for internet service. While we do not require long term service agreements, we hope you will maintain your account for at least one year.
If your home already has a “cold drop” (fiber was brought from the street to the outside wall), Plainfield Broadband will cover the costs for an interior installation (first floor, up to $500), provided that you sign up for internet service. While we do not require long term service agreements, we hope you will maintain your account for at least one year.
Please see our residential pricing policy for more information about exactly what is covered.
If you operate a business or non profit organization that is not yet connected to our town-owned network we will be happy to provide a proposal for both the costs to connect you to the network and for the monthly services that will best meet your data needs. Please see the commercial pricing policy for more details.

Premier Phone Service is available for $12.95/month, plus the minimum required federal and state government fees and taxes. It includes unlimited local and long-distance calling, including to Mexico and Canada, and offers great international rates. Businesses and non-profit institutions?
Costs for businesses, non-profits, and institutions are dependent on the number of users, the service level agreement needs of the business, and other factors. The selectboard has approved a commercial and institutional pricing policy which includes prices for several service levels. We anticipate that some commercial customers will not fit easily into these categories, and we will develop customized service plans for those customers that cover the costs to provide service and meet the town's goals as listed in the policy. Sign up for service now and we will contact you to confirm the service level you need or to present a customized proposal. There are also multiple options for telephone service available to businesses.
